Kinetics of phosphate adsorption by Ca/Cr layered double hydroxide

Kinetics of phosphate adsorption by Ca/Cr layered double hydroxide (LDH) in a batch reactor was investigated this study. The kinetic experiments indicated that the sorption from synthetic feed solution synthesised LDH very fast, with over 98% removal being achieved within 5 min contact. Kinetic modeling process to different models (pseudo first order, pseudo second Elovich and intraparticle diffusion) showed pseudo-second order model best described process. Studies effect hydrochemistry on such as initial pH, ionic strength organic load contamination interference, nominal amount removed LDH. Overall, study chemisorption precipitation are active contributory mechanisms solution.   Key words: Adsorption kinetics, chemisorption, hydroxide, removal, precipitation.
